Get ready for the annual APEs Hiwassee Weekend Camping Trip. We will be padding the Hiwassee on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with APEs members Randy and Jo Anne Pasqua. Optional group dinners at local restaurants on Friday and Saturday evenings. Plus: There will be a Saturday morning trip to the Delano Community Farm Market, a great place for homemade bread and fruit. Bring your own food for breakfast, lunch and snacks.
SCHEDULE
Friday at 2:00 pm: meet at Reliance Boat Ramp Take-out, Ellis Creek Rd., Reliance, TN 37369. The boat ramp is next to Hiwassee Outfitters. If you need to rent an inflatable raft, call 423.338.8115. The outfitter address is 115 Ellis Creek Rd., Reliance TN 37369.
Saturday: Leave campground at 10:30 am and arrive at Reliance Boat Ramp Take-out at 11:00 am.
Sunday: Time TBD.
CAMPING
The group will be staying at Gee Creek Campground, 404 Spring Creek Road, Delano, TN, 37325. Check-in is 4 p.m. and checkout 12 p.m. (Note: We typically can get in the sites earlier than 4 pm.) Once again, we are in sites: B6 & B8 (awesome trees are on the sites for hammock camping and tent spaces also are available. There is plenty of parking and the bathhouse is directly across from the sites. Cost typically is $15 per person to camp. You will need to bring cash to pay, and the final amount will be announced before the trip based on number of attendees.
